Secure Digital Banking

Every session is encrypted end-to-end. Multi-factor login, masked account numbers, and continuous monitoring protect what we have been entrusted to safeguard since 1943.

Heritage-Backed Service

Three generations of bankers have built Sterling Meridian's reputation. Each customer relationship begins with a banker — not a sign-up form — because trust is established, not transacted.

Modern Financial Tools

Move money between your accounts, send to other Sterling Meridian customers, monitor balances in real time, and reach support directly — built with the precision today's lives require.

Heritage Timeline

Eighty-three years, one promise.

Sterling Meridian has remained privately held since 1943. Our shareholders are families who have been with us across generations — which is why we measure ourselves in decades, not quarters.

1943
Founded in Manhattan

Walter H. Sterling and Joseph Meridian open the bank at 245 Madison Avenue, financing the post-war rebuild of American small business.

1958
First correspondent in London

Sterling Meridian establishes its first overseas relationship with Westminster Heritage Bank — the start of a transatlantic franchise.

1971
Frankfurt office, EUR clearing

Following Bretton Woods, the bank opens a representative office in Frankfurt and partners with Hauptmann Privatbank.

1992
$1B deposit milestone

Sterling Meridian crosses one billion dollars in deposits — still privately held, still relationship-led.

2014
Digital re-platform

Launch of the modern digital channel — mobile-first, end-to-end encrypted, while keeping the human banker on every account.

2026
Eight decades of stewardship

Today: 47,000 households served, $8.4B in assets under custody, and the same founding promise — capital is a trust, not a transaction.

Correspondent Network

A Sterling Meridian wire reaches 187 countries — through partners we have known for decades.

We do not operate retail branches abroad. Instead, since 1958 we have curated correspondent relationships with seven anchor institutions — each chosen for capital strength, regulatory standing, and a culture of relationship banking that matches our own.
